Basis Bay positions sustainability as long-standing, not recent. Our environmental initiatives include building green data centres, smart procurement, product life extension, Green IT best practices, and IT infrastructure optimisation. Basis Bay pioneered Asia’s first green data centre in 2009, and frames this as part of its wider sustainability commitment.

Education and Talent Development

Basis Bay’s Clean IT story also includes anti-discrimination, with the site stating a commitment to anti-discriminatory practices in hiring, promotion, employee engagement, and client acquisition. On the talent side, DC2-related materials say Basis Bay launched the Basis Bay Data Centre Foundation Certificate (BBDCFC) with Universiti Malaya as Malaysia’s first operator-led data centre foundation programme, and extended access to underserved communities via MySkills Foundation and ADTEC Kuala Langat. That gives Basis Bay a credible “social + workforce development” ESG angle, not just environmental claims.

Eco-green data centre development

Basis Bay’s sustainability journey has evolved from pioneering Green Data Centres to adopting a broader Eco-Green approach across its infrastructure and operations. This reflects a shift from focusing primarily on energy-efficient data centre design to embedding sustainability more holistically through resource optimisation, renewable energy, water conservation, green building practices and efficient technology infrastructure.

Governance / anti-corruption

Governance is one of the most explicit parts of Basis Bay’s ESG positioning. The Clean IT page states a Zero Tolerance Policy on corruption, plus commitments to integrity, impartiality, transparency, and accountability. The Vision & Values page adds that Basis Bay has strong governance and procurement controls and explicitly states it does not pay or accept bribes or improper inducements. The About page reinforces this with the phrase “Leading Clean IT with Integrity.”
